Mike Lanier is a realistic painter known for his dramatic use of light and color. His work is included in many private collections and galleries throughout the area.
Born and Raised in Texas, Mike's love for the horse and cowboy allows him to do historical or comtemporary subjects as well as using landscape, people and animals in his work. Mike works mailny in oil and acrylic. His design and executiions of paintings with the precision of an engineer allow him to blend realism and abstraction in his compositions to create a dramactic surprise in every painting. Experimenting with other media such as metal and latex brings another dimension to his work, adding texture and depth that otherwise would not be obtainable.
"I know what I want a piece to look like before I begin painting," explains Mike." " Much of the creative aspect of my work starts before I pick up my brush. I dont worry about the continuity in my paintings. When I start laying down the color, I can visualize the end result. Though this Method may be considered unorthodox by traditional standards it works well for me."
Mike's studies in Fine Art, Art History, Illustration ad Commercial Art in college, helped in combining his passion for Art. Mike has recieved numerous awards in Regional and National competitions.
